Kate Harvey – General Manager – Research, Development and Extension
Kate Harvey became AGWA’s General Manager – Research, Development and Extension in July 2014, having been General Manager at the Grape and Wine Research and Development Corporation (GWRDC) since June 2010.
Kate is responsible for managing research, development and extension. She is also responsibility for the Consumers and Markets program, which invests in research and development in the consumer insights and market access areas.
Before joining GWRDC, one of AGWA’s two predecessor organisations, Kate held senior positions at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. She has also worked in the government and corporate sectors.
Kate holds an Honours degree in politics from the University of Adelaide and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration from the University of South Australia. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ed Parker – Financial Controller
Ed has been a qualified charted accountant for 20 years and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales. He also holds a Masters of Technology in Risk Management.
Ed has held previous auditing and senior accounting roles in London, including at the BBC, and was responsible for budgeting and financial reporting at PeopleSoft Asia Pac before transferring to the US to work on a systems implementation project. Ed previously held Financial Controller positions at the National Native Title Tribunal in Perth and the Adelaide Festival Corporation before joining AGWA (formerly GWRDC). Ed is responsible for developing and implementing accounting systems, financial reporting, policies and procedures, and risk management.
Dr Liz Waters – Senior R&D Program Manager
Liz is internationally respected for the research she undertook over 20 years while a wine researcher, before she joined the program management team at AGWA (formerly GWRDC) in May 2011. Her experience spans research management, board directorship, scientific editing and post-graduate student supervision. Liz holds a PhD in Plant Science from the University of Adelaide and has published more than 150 articles including book chapters, journal papers, a patent and technical reports. Liz is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry.
Liz is responsible for AGWA’s Improving products and processes program.
Adrian Loschiavo – R&D Program Manager
Adrian completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at La Trobe University and a Bachelor of Science – Honours (Plant Science) at The University of Adelaide. He previously worked at The South Australian Research and Development Institute as a Research Assistant and as a Viticulturist for Treasury Wine Estates and Southcorp Wines. Before joining AGWA (formerly GWRDC), he was Senior Viticulture Consultant at Scholefield Robinson Horticultural Services.
Adrian is responsible for Adoption and Evaluation within AGWA’s Extension and Adoption program.
Keith Hayes – R&D Program Manager
A GWRDC R&D Program Manager from 2006–10, Keith has returned to AGWA (formerly GWRDC) after almost three years with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, as a divisional Deputy Director. He holds an Honours degree in Chemistry (Flinders University) and is an experienced researcher, analytical laboratory manager and Research Manager, having worked for over 20 years in various water industry roles. He also has 10 years of viticultural experience as a (former) Clare Valley property owner and grapegrower.
Keith is responsible for AGWA’s Environment and sustainability program, while Elise Heyes is on maternity leave.
Anne Duncan – R&D Program Manager
Anne holds a double degree in Arts and Law (University of Adelaide) and practiced for seven years with the Crown Solicitor’s Office, specialising in administrative and civil laws. She has previously worked for the Department of Primary Industries and Regions and most recently with the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia.
Anne is responsible for Developing people within AGWA’s Extension and Adoption program.
Abbey Flanagan – Communications Coordinator
Abbey graduated with a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of South Australia and has since honed her experience in communications and marketing for an Adelaide-based not-for-profit and an award-winning public relations agency in Sydney. In this role, Abbey was charged with disseminating a number of high-level research outcomes to key stakeholders and the general public, through national and local media relations, social media and marketing activities.
Abbey is responsible for translating the outcomes of AGWA’s research investments through a range of communication initiatives.
Elise Heyes – R&D Program Manager
Currently on Maternity Leave
Elise graduated with Honours in Agricultural Science (Viticulture) at The University of Adelaide and McGill University Canada before working as a Viticultural Technical Officer for Constellation Wines in Berri and the USA. She was previously the Viticultural Development Officer for the Barossa Grape and Wine Association.
Elise is responsible for AGWA’s Environment and sustainability program.
Amanda Moretta – Executive Administrator
Currently on Maternity Leave
Amanda graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of South Australia before managing an Occupational, Health and Safety project with the South Australian Government. Amanda has been with AGWA (formerly GWRDC) for more than three years, where her responsibilities include the administration of all research and development projects.
